FAQs

Do I need to file a claim with my homeowner's insurance?

This depends on how much damage is done to your home.  Sometimes a small amount of repairs will barely amount to your deductible.   We can help you determine a cost and let you decide.

Should I call a plumber first?

Sometimes it is necessary to contact a plumber to stop a leak before mitigation can begin.  We have some plumbers that we have worked with that we can recommend, however that is always your decision on which plumber to use.  Be wary of a plumber that tries to get you to use a "buddy" to handle your mitigation needs.  Often times these "buddies" are getting kick backs and may not always have your best interests in mind.

Do you provide emergency service?

Yes.  Emergency needs can vary.  Mitigation is a service that helps get water out of your home, remove wet materials that could provide the right conditions for mold to grow, or even clean up septic back ups in a safe manner.  Don't try to do these things on your own, let the professionals help.

What should I do if I see mold?

It is best not to disturb the mold.  Mold isn't typically dangerous in the short term.  But mold can cause irritations in people who have respiratory sensitivities.  Do not put a fan blowing on the mold in an attempt to dry the area out as this can send mold spores to other areas of the house.  Many materials that have been affected by mold will need to be treated and removed.  Call us to take a look and see how to best remediate your mold.

Does my house have asbestos?

And the answer is... maybe.  If your home was built before the early 1980's then it is very possible that some of the home's materials have asbestos.  If materials that have to be removed or repaired are thought to have asbestos then we arrange for a full testing.  The test results will direct the course of action.  But don't worry, if asbestos is determined to be present in your home it can typically be removed in less than a work day.  Do not try to remove any materials that could have asbestos on your own, under any circumstances.

How do I know your company is trustworthy?

Champion Construction Systems, Inc. has been in business since the 1970's.  We are a preferred vendor of several well established insurance companies such as State Farm, Nationwide, Amica, and many others.  The programs that allow us to serve the customers of these companies require a high level of quality and competancy in order to continue as a preferred vendor for them.  Everyone of our employees are required to pass a background check.
